Things to do in Weymouth
Weymouth, as a seaside resort, has a multitude of things to do, the list caters for sunny days, rainy days, young & old, active and inactive alike, a 2 week stay in Weymouth is not enough to get around to it all.
1 Weymouth beach
Miles of it and Weymouth's greatest attraction, everyone enjoys a day on the beach.
2 Visit Chesil Beach
As a gateway town to the Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage site, you can easily walk to the amazing geological phenomena of Chesil Beach. It's a fabulous sight but dangerous to swim in so take a camera, not your swimming costume!
3 The Rodwell Trail
This is the unused railway line that took people and freight from Weymouth to the Island of Portland and is now a footpath. It is the Town's intention to make this the official walking route from Weymouth Town Centre to the site of the 2012 Olympics Sailing Events being held here.
4 Walk the Coastal path
Both to the east and to the west of Weymouth there are miles of superb coast to walk, it's all a pleasure.
5 The Road Train
Running along Weymouth sea front during the summer months is a road train that can take the effort out of seeing the whole length of this spectacular front.
6 Weymouth Cinema
Weymouth has a multiscreen cinema so you don't miss the new releases whilst on holiday here.
7 10 Pin Bowling
Right in the town centre there's a 10 Pin Bowling rink with restaurant and bar.
8 Open Top Bus Tour
There are regular open top busses that run around Weymouth and accross the causeway to Portland, there they go up to the top of the Island and right the way to the famous Portland Bill Lighthouse which is open to the public to climb.
9 Enjoy the Cafe Culture
Both sides of Weymouth Harbour there are cafe's and bars that have seating outside and there's nothing more pleasant than sitting in the sunshine with a glass of white wine for an hour.
10 Hope Square
A pedestrian priority square with bars and restaurants, seating outside and inside, all in front of the old brewery building that dominates the square. Inside the brewery building is a large collection of arts and crafts shops along with more cafes and confectioners.
