This is local 11 year old artist, Erin Paull of Conifers Primary School, who won the 7 - 11 year old category in the Weymouth Street Painting competition held on the promenade at the beginning of June.
We wanted to run a Photo Competition in conjunction with the Dorset Echo but they already have a competition running so you'll have to wait for next year!
If you want to see any of your own photos on this site in the mean time, please feel free to send them to us and we'll publish the better ones.
There are many artists available for commissions in the area, one of whom is Susie Clowes.
Weymouth has a host of local artists and is actively involved in Dorset Art Week which is took place between May 24th and june 8th 2008.
During this time there were 16 exhibitions taking place in and around Weymouth (and a total of 336 in the whole of Dorset) which were all provided by local artisits.

Jan Walker - Paintings of the weathered coastline and the underlying geology.

Roger Smith - Fine Art photography of Flowers, Botanicals, Jurassic Coast and Abstracts.
Liz Wright - Local paintings and prints.
Ruth Williams - Painting the most stunning views in Dorset.
Anne-Marie Kelly - Paintings and illustrative works inspired by the sea.
Andrea Frankham-Hughes - Jewellery in a studio with stunning views over Lyme Bay.
Sarah Gilpin - Unusual sculptures in a beach hut at Portland Bill.

Many images of the local area are available on local photographer Rik Sorbie's website, Rik is currently working in Australia as a Professional Photographer but may come back to this country next year as he's been offered another job in London. We wish Rik the best of luck as he's a local talent that's bound to do well.
