This is local 11 year old artist, Erin Paull of Conifers Primary School, who won the 7 - 11 year old category in the Weymouth Street Painting competition held on the promenade at the beginning of June.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
We wanted to run a Photo Competition in conjunction with the Dorset Echo but they already have a competition running so you'll have to wait for next year!

Weymouth has a host of local artists and is actively involved in Dorset Art Week which is scheduled for the period between May 24th and june 8th this year.
 
During this time there are 16 exhibitions taking place in and around Weymouth (and a total of 336 in the whole of Dorset) which are all provided by local artisits.

Jan Walker - Paintings of the weathered coastline and the underlying geology.
 
Andrew Seamark - Paintings of local scenes in different media.

Ruth Williams - Painting the most stunning views in Dorset.

Andrea Frankham-Hughes - Jewellery in a studio with stunning views over Lyme Bay.

Many images of the local area are available on local photographer Rik Sorbie's website, Rik is currently working in Australia as a Professional Photographer but may come back to this country next year as he's been offered another job in London. We wish Rik the best of luck as he's a local talent that's bound to do well.
